Texture Explorer is an application which allows you to browse through files and display their binary data as textures. The key feature of this application is its ability to automatically search for textures within a file using images that you provide it with and store the findings in a treeview where you can browse, import and export textures.
The program uses an XML file to store the texture information. An XML file for the Ocarina of Time Debug ROM is bundled with the application and contains information for over 1700 textures.
This application is a replacement for CloudMax's N64 Texture Packer, which is a Web Application that can import and export textures from ROM files. The reason development was moved over to the Texture Explorer is because of color limitations in browsers, making it difficult to manipulate images without quality loss, which also makes it so that textures can't be located within the ROM due to the difference in binary data.
The application is written in Qt which is a cross-platform application framework. The program is currently available on Windows and Mac OS X. The Mac release requires 10.7 or above, and does not work on 32-bit or PowerPC.
The timestamps are in CET. All releases prior to 1.1 use the executable creation date. The build date is specified in the about dialog in version 1.1 and later. The releases are marked as Public, Private and Stable. The ones marked as Stable are available for download on the official website.
