What is a Talk Page?

Every user has a talk page which you can use to communicate with them. To visit someone's talk page, go to their User page and click on the "discussion" tab at the top. If the link is red, that means the page hasn't been created yet and you will be brought to an edit screen. (Example)

Rules

User talk pages are not for arguing. If you are having problems with someone, visit Handling Disputes for more information.

Don't alter the content of a talk page. This includes deleting comments. It is important to have a record of people's communications.

Leaving Comments

To write on an article's talk page, use the following format:

Code: ==Topic==

Write your comment/question/etc. here. --~~~~

Writing four tildes (--~~~~) attaches your signature and a timestamp to your comment, so other users will know who wrote it and when. --GlitterBerri 21:26, 25 December 2012 (EST)

Replying

Reply to people's comments on your own talk page in order to avoid splitting up the conversation. You can do this by using a : in front of your response. It will automatically indent your reply.

Code: Result:
Thanks again for the help! --~~~~

:No problem! --~~~~

Thanks again for the help! --GlitterBerri 21:51, 26 November 2012 (EST)
No problem! --Chpexo 21:59, 26 November 2012 (EST)

Comments can be indented further by adding more colons (:).

Code: Result:
Thanks again for the help! --~~~~

:No problem! --~~~~
::No, seriously, I really appreciate it. --~~~~
:::It's my pleasure, really. --~~~~
